Sonya Sotomayor
Born to a Puerto Rican family, Sotomayor grew up in a public housing project and lived through the American dream. She graduated from Princeton University and Yale Law School before becoming a judge in New York.

A litigator and prosecutor with a deep passion for justice, Loretta Lynch is the most popular female lawyer in the United States. Her stellar career includes three presidential appointments and she serves as a partner at Paul, Weiss in New York.
Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, she was inspired to pursue a law career by her mother, a school librarian, and her father, a Baptist minister. She also grew up hearing stories about her grandfather, who in the 1930s helped Black people flee the Jim Crow South and move north to escape persecution.
She graduated with honors from Harvard University and received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1984. She began her career as a litigation associate at the New York law firm Cahill Gordon & Reindel, where she was involved in numerous high-profile cases. Later, she became a trial prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York, which encompasses Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Long Island.
Kamala Harris
Born in Oakland, California to parents who emigrated from India (mother) and Jamaica (father), Harris was shaped by her experiences of Civil Rights protests and marches. She earned a law degree from Hastings College of the Law and advocated for reproductive freedom.
As a senator, she’s also had to grapple with difficult issues, including immigration and voting rights.
